To the Parent of a Teenager,
You are stronger than you think. Your parenting adventure is not over, the best part is just beginning. You can do this.
For almost 20 years I have coached and encouraged teenagers and their parents in public schools, summer camps, and churches. After all of that time there is one truth that stands out to me more than anything else. The best way for me to change the life of a teenager is to influence you.
You are the linchpin in the life of your teenager. No one has more influence in their life than you. It’s time for you to resist the pressure you feel from that and embrace the opportunity that comes with it.
I began Parentzilla for you. My goal is not to guilt you, throw statistics at you, or overwhelm you. I’m going to inspire you.
How can I be so confident that you will be inspired? Because I have listened to your teenagers long enough and I heard what they want from you.
* It’s not more money and stuff…
* It’s not more activity…
* It’s not a perfect parent…
They want you. They want your attention. They want your forgiveness. They want to be heard. They want you to care. They want you to inspire them. These are all skills that you already have.
Call me crazy but I believe that you and your teenager are perfectly matched for each other. Your adventure through the adolescent years is something that you don’t have to just survive. You can thrive.
Let’s partner together. I will help you stay positive and focused as a parent. I will give you a place to vent, learn, and be inspired. Then you will be free to unleash your child into adulthood and actually enjoy doing it!
